Me gusta sentir que cada vez pinto peor, quiero decir que en el proceso de elaborar un cuadro -en el sentido clásico de pintar- va perdiendo relevancia el acabamiento satisfactorio y pleno de una pintura y busco un exceso que provoca lo contrario: llevarlo hacia un punto de destrucción.  Conmigo, el trabajo de pintar a lo largo del tiempo tiene la forma de un tiro parabólico, llegar a un punto máximo y luego provocar la caída.  Yo me ocupo, con lo que tengo, de sacar el mejor provecho de ese movimiento.  Hay una diferencia notable, para aquellos que tan solo se detienen a ver,  entre la imagen “rota” por deficiencia y la imagen desgarrada como resultado de una intención.   Por supuesto, la mesura, la armonía, la proporción, la euritmia, están en mis cuadros, pero están como fantasmas, quizás como recuerdos, como aquello que alguna vez fue importante en la experiencia clásica de configurar imágenes. No me gusta más pintar “limpio”, prefiero las anomalías, la presentación de la imagen orientada hacia su desvanecimiento.   Creo que, por mi formación “profesional” en filosofía, los conceptos –por ejemplo, lo “aurático” (Benjamin), o el importantísimo del “anacronismo de la imagen” desarrollado por Didi-Huberman- son muy importantes para mi trabajo.  No desvinculo nunca la reflexión teórica del quehacer práctico y, desde la vida rural en mi aldea, trato de materializar con los recursos que tengo, una obra que se explique siempre gracias a la elaboración conceptual,  o por sus metáforas (que es también llevar al concepto hacia el desvanecimiento de su carácter disciplinado y disciplinario).

It is good to feel every time I paint worse. I mean that in the process of developing an image - in the very classic meaning of painting - the relevance of satisfactory and full finishing turn into a contrary: a search of an excess that leads the image to a point of destruction. The paint works, over time, has had the form of a parabolic shot, reaching a peak and then brings down. I try, with my tools and meanings, to take full advantage of that movement. There is a noticeable difference between the “broken” image by deficiency and that one as result of an intention. Of course, moderation, harmony, proportion, eurythmy are in my paintings, but only like ghosts, perhaps as resemblances, as what was once important in the classical experience of setting images. I do not like "clean" paintings; I prefer the anomalies, the presentation of fading oriented images.

Because of my professional training on philosophy, concepts like the "auratic" (Benjamin) or the "anachronism of the image" developed by Didi-Huberman, are very important for my work. I never dissociate theoretical thinking and practical endeavor.  I try to create, with the resources I have, a work related with concepts or their metaphors (metaphors that lead the concept to the fading of its diciplinated and disciplinary character).
